QCLNG Water Treatment Plants
FULL PROJECT DETAILS
Blitzsteel has constructed a series of three water treatment plants for QGC as part of the upstream development of the QCLNG project in Queensland.
Blitzsteel has now constructed a series of three water treatment plants for QGC as part of the upstream development of the QCLNG project in Queensland.
The first, the Windibri Water Treatment Plant, was delivered in 2012, 250km north-west of Brisbane.
Blitzsteel engineered, procured and constructed the Windibri Plant which included bulk earthworks, detailed civil works, piping, mechanical and electrical trades. The site is now operational and treats 6 million litres of water every day from nearby gas wells for use by the neighbouring Condamine Power Station and coal-handling facilities.
QGC also engaged the Laing O’Rourke and GE consortium in 2010 to engineer, procure and construct a state-of-the-art water treatment plant on its Kenya property near Chinchilla in Queensland. The plant will treat up to 92 megalitres of water a day.
The scope included the delivery of a Central Water Treatment Plant and a Relocatable Water Treatment Plant (RWTP).
Then in 2012, the Laing O’Rourke & GE Joint Venture was once again engaged by QGC to deliver the Northern Water Treatment Plant.
This advanced facility will treat 100 million litres of water per day. The project also includes the delivery of all related infrastructure associated with QGC’s northern gas fields. When complete, it will be one of the largest water plants in Australia.
PROJECT FACTS
RESOURCES AND WATER SECTOR CAPABILITY COMBINE FOR OIL AND GAS OFFERINGS
THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NORTHERN WATER TREATMENT PLANT HAS BEEN OPTIMISED USING BLITZSTEEL’S IN-HOUSE DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURE AND ASSEMBLY AND DIGITAL ENGINEERING CAPABILITIES.
BLITZSTEEL ALSO DELIVERED THE $300 MILLION ADVANCED WATER TREATMENT PLANT AT LUGGAGE POINT, IN JOINT VENTURE IN 2009.
A KEY PART OF THE WESTERN CORRIDOR RECYCLED WATER PROJECT, THAT PROJECT INCLUDED BUILDING WATER-RETAINING TANKS AND BUILDINGS; INSTALLING MEMBRANES, PIPELINES AND ELECTRICAL AND INSTRUMENTATION SERVICES; LANDSCAPING; AND DEVELOPING ROADS AND DRAINS THROUGHOUT THE SITE.
BLITZSTEEL HAS ALSO DELIVERED ACCOMMODATION VILLAGES TO SUPPORT THE QGC PROJECTS, AT WOLEEBEE CREEK AND CONDABRI.
